This morning, while watching “Morning Joe” on MSNBC, I had an almost uncontrollable urge to get up and kick Grover Norquist in the teeth. The discussion was about the debt ceiling debate. I watched Norquist bobbing, twisting & lying to support tax advantages for corporations and the rich, while promoting spending cuts detrimental to the lives, income & welfare of the middle class & poor.
The Founders’ vision for America included a determination to prevent the domination of the American people by the owners of wealth, including the owners of corporations. They were passionate about this, because they knew that domination of this kind would destroy the nation that is America. Here is just one quote from Thomas Jefferson: “I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a moneyed aristocracy that has set the government at defiance.”
Now we have the likes of Norquist promoting the redistribution of the wealth of America to the rich, by taking it away from the middle class and poor. This redistribution started under Ronald Reagan and is still occurring at this time. It has resulted in a horrendous disparity between the incomes and wealth of the rich and of the middle class. They have created a very wealthy upper class which, as predicted by many of the Founders, has used its wealth to subvert the Government of America and the economic health of her citizens.
Here are the results of Norquist-style actions:
Back to Norquist. He is actively working to ensure economic domination of America by the rich and the corporations, and is, therefore, dangerous to the liberties of the American people. He is patently a traitor to the visions of the Founders. Should he also be regarded as a traitor to America?
