It’s all about beating Obama. Nothing else matters.

The whole Republican agenda in Congress and in the States, is geared to one objective – beating Barack Obama in 2012. Nothing else matters. Not America. Not Americans. It’s just “Beat Obama”. That is the only thing that can explain the craziness the Republicans are exhibiting in the Congress and the States, with their fanatical desire to cut spending during an economic crisis..

Speaker Boehner, when asked about the job losses if the GOP agenda is implemented, replied “So be it.”

Indiana’s Gov Mitch Daniels’ response, when recently asked if government budget cuts should go ahead, “even if they end up seriously costing a lot of jobs”, answered “Yes”.

Cutting spending has been the battle cry from conservatives in Congress and State governments, and from those in the media. They never discus the most obvious fix for extra revenue to combat deficits, a surtax on the rich, or even to reduce spending by cutting useless military projects. It’s always aimed at their pet hatreds; programs that are falsely labeled “socialist”, like Medicaid, help for the poor, unemployment benefits, education, EPA and the like. They just don’t care what the experts say. For example, Goldman Sachs’ and Moody’s analysts have said that the Republicans’ budget cuts will result in a 1% increase in the unemployment rate (about 700,000 to 1,000,000 jobs lost). This doesn’t seem to faze, for one moment, these people who promised to GROW jobs.

My belief is that, after Republicans successfully cut spending and the job losses start, they and their media stooges will start hammering at Obama. You can just see what’s coming .. the screams from all the conservative roof tops; “Obama, where are the jobs” and “Obama stopped job growth”. That’s it, the bottom line of the conservatives’ plan, “squash the economy and job growth, because we can then pound out the talking points and BEAT OBAMA”.

The really sad part of all of this is that real people will suffer – Real Americans – but the Republicans don’t care a damn about them.

I see the GOP is mostly still concerned with pushing their pseudo-religious beliefs on the rest of the country by introducing legislation to ban abortion and gay marriage. So, obviously they are willing to spend billions to attack the rights of these marginalized groups.

Seriously. Don’t we have bigger problems than two men or women getting hitched?

Here’s my new one. Gay marriage is actually GOOD for the economy. They will spend, spend, spend on their weddings… catering, photos, outfits, honeymoons, etc. Not to mention the fee for the marriage license, which will go into cash-starved city halls.

While many of my tweets poke fun at Obama, I think plenty else matters. I see the Repubs split into the hardcore partisans and the conservative idealists. The Teaparty falls in that second category. I think that they both go after Obama, the former because he’s a democrat, the latter because he’s fiscally irresponsible, and both because he’s not nearly as mature, emotionally, politically, or philosophically, as he was sold.

I think the Repub field for 2012 is a sad group, and doubt I’ll vote for any of the likely nominees. I’m not so big on tax cuts per se, but I think our tax code is overly progressive as it stands. And no, I don’t make much money.

As for spending cuts versus “jobs”, I think economist’s models that give superficially productive jobs like census workers equal weight with a competitive production jobs are part of the Keynesian miscalculation. Those economic models universally assume that money is proportional to true value, and err (showing “growth” where value lags) when centralized planning injects money into inefficient pursuits, rather than letting the market find where new job value is best created.

Oh and Goldman-Sachs is a disinterested party, right? Don’t think for a second that their published analyses aren’t well timed with their internal short sells. And their forecasts are accurate? Don’t make me laugh. They predicted the smashing success of the stimulus bill.

So when Boehner says, “so be it”, I’m okay with that. I have 3 wonderful children, and I would rather bite the bullet now than burden posterity with our debts any further.* Anything else is selfish fiscal child abuse that is orders of magnitude greater than any ill effect of balancing the budget, thanks to the magic of compound interest. We as a nation are no longer exponentially popping out posterity, so the math indicates the Ponzi scheme must be dismantled, and the sooner the better.

*Actually I would rather have tightened it up 2 decades ago, but I did not have twitter to spew it, and no one cared on Usenet.

You start (first Paragraph) with two Conservative fantasies, first that Obama is not fiscally responsible and the second that he is not mature. Both are idiotic assertions. The debt and expenditure under Obama, with relatively small variations, is what Bush left him. They come from wars, tax cuts and bills that were put in place by Bush.

No one gave census workers jobs equal weight with other jobs. They were always thought of a temporary. The “free market” is a fantasy. In a recession, the Government is the only source of capital to get demand and growth moving. Under the trickle down philosophy, we should have millions of new jobs by now, but corporations are sitting on trillions of dollars of cash. Trickle down is a fantasy.

The CBO analysis stated that the stimulus succeeded in what it was designed to do. Conservatives may spin it differently, but that spin is false.

Boehner is a fake. So are the Conservatives. No one even blinked when Bush was running up the debt and creating unfunded policies. That’s hypocrisy.

The bottom line is that you proved my contention that Conservatives lie.
